North West Country

Well, we ended the year with a bang with two big celebrations – The Helensville Santa Parade and the judging of the Christmas Window Dressing Competition.

The Santa Parade was held on what felt like the hottest December day on record with countless bottles of water being drunk as we got ready.  Over 30 floats entered and we got off to a cracking start with the Pipe Band, Police and five fire trucks.

A big thank you goes out to all the spectators for coming, all the floats for making the event such a success, and to the organizing committee who pulled it all together.  Also thank you to Rodney Local Board, Volt Solutions and Ecomatters for sponsoring the event.

We had heated competition this year for the Christmas Window Dressing competition with two Helensville not-for-profit organisations taking out the wins.  Te Awaroa Museum was lauded for their wide spaces decorated and their fun, interactive displays.  Te Ha Oranga was praised for their attention to detail and use of native materials such as harakeke and pohutukawa.  Each organisation takes away a $1,500 grant, well done!

We have more learning opportunities in the new year for members, the first being a free Employer Services Expo held on Wednesday 19th February at the Country Club Huapai. All business members are invited to the expo to hear how the Ministry of Social Development, Here Toitu, Ember and Out West Youth offer free services to employers to support you and your teams.  Look out for giveaways and network with trainers and support agencies.

Later in the quarter we have a free Digital Security Workshop held on the 5th March at the Helensville Business Hub and hosted by local businessman and cyber expert, John King from Thinking.  Learn about protecting your email from spam, cyber security, monitoring programmes, avoiding hacks and ransomware and all the tips and tricks you never knew.

Head to our website to register your place today for both events.

Don’t forget, please come to me with any questions, ideas, issues, or support that you might need.  I am here to help. Danielle Hancock, Business Manager Danielle Hancock, Business ManagerManager@northwestcountry.co.nz
