North West Country supported two major art events in the area this year, celebrating our many talented artists. Arts in the Ville in Helensville was huge hit this year, with more artists than ever. Held on Labour Weekend, the North West Country business hub at Mill Road opened its doors and hosted four local artists. Art is a big part of our local area, and the business hub has a number of art pieces on its walls from local artists so it was a fitting location.
On Saturday 2nd November, the Kumeu Arts Centre held its annual Kumeu Art Awards and as sponsors, North West Country was delighted to present the second prize award. All the entries were incredible and we congratulate all artists who took part.
Christmas is just around the corner and we are looking forward to having a cracking time. We have a lot of things on the go for everyone to enjoy, including our business members.
On Sunday 15th December the Helensville Showgrounds will host the Christmas Markets from 8:30am, with the Santa Parade at 12 noon. If you want to register a float please head to our website and click on What’s On to find the registration form. We would love to see you there.
November is also the launch month for our annual Christmas Shop Decorating Competition. This is open to all North West Country members and every entrant has an opportunity to win one of two $1500 cash prizes. Our two winners last year were so elated to be chosen from all the entrants, and a lovely cash bump made it even better!
All businesses who want to take part in the competition need to register, then across the months of November and December we will keep an eye on your business and watch the decorations go up. Our judge will head out in December to make their choices, and the winners will be announced on Saturday 14th December.
The Big Little Local event is on again this year and we hope to see everyone there. 2024 will be bigger and better than before and showcases a range of local businesses, from big to small, with many giveaways and prizes. Come down to Rautawhiri Park on Saturday 23rd November.
