Photographer Craig Rogers felt humbled to receive the most votes for the ‘People’s Choice’ in last months Festival of Photography Exhibition at the Art Centre, Helensville. Craig has only recently begun taking photographs yet has vivid memories as a child of spending time in a darkroom seeing the magic of a photograph appearing as it developed from a blank piece of photographic paper in the chemicals. He also remembers with fondness time spent with his photographer grandfather. Four of Craig’s nine photographs were vying for the lead in the competition but the sensitive picture of his dog ‘Suede’ swayed the voting. Also popular were the works of vision-impaired photographer Rachael Clarke and 11-year-old Tom Matteucci who were equal third in the voting.
