Pine Valley Road Update
While Pine Valley is still closed, work is going well with the culvert repair. Teams working 12 hours a day and 6 days a week. No one leaning on shovels on this project.
Over 3,000 tonnes of soil have been removed, 15 sheet piles have been installed to support a massive 500+ block wall.
The final result will see a 6m deep, 2.5m x 2m longbox culvert to divert water from the south side to the northern side, preventing future erosion and support flood prevention.
Coastguard Kaipara Opening
On the weekend I was invited to the opening of the new Coastguard shed in Parakai, at the end of Springs Road. This building is a game changer for their operations, and we are very lucky to have this in our backyard. The opening began with a dawn blessing at 6am, followed by a formal opening and a public celebration.

Wishart Road update
I’ve included a few photos to show what the crews are up to on Wishart Road, most of which won’t be visible to people driving past, but you can be reassured that the stop go lights are there for good reasons and repairs are underway.
The first stage is to install road drainage deep under the road to remove built-up water. Once this is established there will be some medium term monitoring to measure if there is any further ground movement before they look at stage 2.
Thanks Auckland Transport for the photo updates
