Te Ha Oranga’s Generous Koha

Late last year, Te Ha Oranga won the North West Country Business Association Christmas Decorating Competition and chose to donate half of their $1,500 prize to Our Village – Northwest.

This incredible koha has helped us continue providing support, kai, connection, and clothing (including school uniforms) for local whanau. We are beyond grateful for their aroha, it truly reflects the strength of our community and the way we all come together to uplift one another.

Te Ha Oranga is an iwi-endorsed health service provider that delivers kaupapa Maori services, supporting the physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing of whanau. Operating under the tikanga of Ngati Whatua, they focus on manaakitanga (care and support) and kaitiakitanga (guardianship) to provide culturally appropriate care for the community.

Our Village Joins North West Country Business Association! We’re excited to share that Our Village – Northwest is now a proud Partner Member! Being part of this collective strengthens our connections with other local businesses and organizations working to uplift our community.

For businesses outside the targeted rate area, Partner Membership offers access to North West BIZ services, networking opportunities, and support. Members also co-brand with the North West Country Business Association to showcase their connection to the wider community.

New members are always welcome! If you’re a local business keen to collaborate and strengthen our community, now’s a great time to join.

Storage Solutions Needed!  At Our Village – Northwest, we collect and distribute children’s clothing and school uniforms to local whanau in need. However, due to limited storage space, we are currently unable to take on new donations until we find a solution.

We’re reaching out to local businesses and individuals who may be able to donate clear plastic storage bins, funding, or vouchers to help us continue this mahi. If anyone has spare storage tubs they no longer need, we would be incredibly grateful!

Additionally, if any local families are interested in trying out cloth nappies, we have a good supply available with no obligation to return.

Potluck Dinner Collaboration with SKGF
We’ve already sent details via SKGF but just confirming that Our Village is excited to be collaborating again for another Community Potluck Dinner at St. Matthew’s Church Lounge on Garfield Road. Looking forward to another great evening of kai and connection!

Our team together with Te Ha Oranga
