The way others see things

Who here loves driving over speed bumps on their way to work?

In our January edition we ran an article from Geoff Upson, a member of the Local Board with the article headline you see above.

Well I think I may have found the answer!  One of the couriers who delivers our paper lives in Milldale, a newly developed suburb, off Pine Valley Road just south of Orewa.  I enter from that direction and drive to the other side of Milldale, less than 2km.  The roads are usually empty, and I only see, maybe, half a dozen other vehicles, but it takes me ages at about 15 to 20km per hour.  The reason is that at every intersection there are two raised speed bumps/zebra crossings one on each side of the crossing and between them and the next intersection there are at least another two raised speed bumps.  In total I have to travel over 29 speed bumps going to the courier’s house and the same number coming back, a total of 58 speed bumps in a distance of barely 1.8km.  The irony is that I hardly ever see any pedestrians on any of them either. So the answer to Geoff’s question must be “People living in Milldale!”
