Hear working artist Karyn Ellwood as she presents a power-point presentation on this prolific artist on Sunday, 25th August.
The talk will be the focus of the ‘cafe-style’ church service at the Helensville Community Church at 10.30 at 40 Mill Road.
Hear how his career went from art dealer to missionary to painter.
One of Vincent van Gogh’s most famous paintings is Starry Night. The focus is the night sky with a radiant crescent moon and stars that shine brightly amongst swirling clouds. A cypress tree frames one side of the picture with a sleepy town situated below the hills. It’s a great picture. Most of us know the picture and possibly even have a print of it. Have you ever stopped to look at it closely?
What does that big dark cypress tree mean? What exactly are those cool swirls in the sky? Why does the dark church seem to be a focus in the town? Who is Vincent the man who painted such a compelling painting? What was his life experience that informed his art? Why does he paint such bold bright pictures? It’s Vincent’s passion and belief that inform his art. His use of paint and brush on canvas that touches something deep within the viewer and draws us in.
See compelling images and enjoy listening to Karyn as she takes you on a journey through his life and his works.
